NAGPRA Review Committee: September 30 Virtual Meeting

The National Park Service is providing notice that the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Review Committee will hold a virtual meeting via video conference on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until approximately 6:00 p.m. Eastern. The meeting is open to the public and is being held in accordance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act, as amended.

The Committee was established under section 8 of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act of 1990 (NAGPRA). According to the notice, the Committee's statutory responsibilities include monitoring the NAGPRA inventory and identification process; reviewing and making findings related to the identity or cultural affiliation of cultural items, or the return of such items; facilitating the resolution of disputes; compiling an inventory of culturally unidentifiable human remains in the possession or control of each Federal agency and museum; and recommending specific actions for developing a process for disposition of such human remains. The Committee is also responsible for consulting with Indian Tribes, Native Hawaiian organizations, and museums on matters within the scope of its work; consulting with the Secretary of the Interior on development of NAGPRA regulations; and making recommendations regarding the future care of repatriated cultural items.

The notice states that the agenda for the meeting may include a report from the National NAGPRA Program, discussion of the Review Committee Report to Congress, subcommittee reports, and other topics related to the Committee's responsibilities under section 8 of NAGPRA. The agenda may also include presentations by Indian Tribes, Native Hawaiian organizations, museums, Federal agencies, associations, and individuals, as well as public comment. Agenda materials are to be posted on or before September 15, 2026. Detailed minutes of the meeting will be available for public inspection within 90 days of the meeting.

The meeting is accessible to the public. The notice requests that individuals requiring sign language interpreter services, assistive listening devices, or other reasonable accommodations contact the designated agency official at least seven business days prior to the meeting, to allow the Department of the Interior sufficient time to process such requests. All reasonable accommodation requests are managed on a case-by-case basis. The notice also advises that personal identifying information submitted in comments may be made publicly available.

SSA Correction: Cardiovascular Disorder Evaluation Criteria

The Social Security Administration published a technical correction to its rule on Revised Medical Criteria for Evaluating Cardiovascular Disorders, which affects 20 CFR Parts 404 and 416. The correction addresses an error in the original rule document (2026-13420), which was published beginning on page 40804 in the Federal Register issue of Thursday, July 2, 2026.

According to the correction notice, in Appendix 1 to Subpart P of Part 404, on page 40837, in the second column, in the third row, the text "How do we evaluate ECG evidence?" should read "2. How do we evaluate ECG evidence?" The correction is limited to this formatting and numbering fix in the appendix. The underlying rule, which is designated as economically significant, remains otherwise unchanged.
